Where to watch free horror movies online

Embarq: If you like old scary movies, then head on over to Embarq where you'll find a collection of black and white classics such as the 1968 version of "Night of the Living Dead" and the creepy 1922 silent flick based on Bram Stoker's Dracula "Nosferatu." The movies are about an hour and a half long, and play in a small pop-up screen. Quality is good, and best of all they're free to watch.

Hulu:
You can find anything on Hulu, but the 66.6 Second Film Festival is a quick way to get your Halloween fix. If you're looking for longer features, Hulu has a nice selection of free horror movies and TV shows. You have to sign up for an account to watch them, but it's well worth it. Some of the movies worth watching on Hulu include:
"Amityville 2," "Ghostbusters," "Ed Gein," "Underworld Evolution," and "28 Days Later."

Joost: This site recently released a web-based player so you don't have to install desktop clients to enjoy free horror movies. There's not a whole lot of selection, but you can find some interesting documentaries like this one. You also have to sign up for an account. Movies to watch: "Christine," "The Blob," and "Little Shop of Horrors."

Netflix:
Dyers.org put together a list of 85+ free Halloween movies you can watch on Netflix on demand if you have an account. It's a pretty impressive list that includes newer movies like Bram Stoker's "Dracula," "Child's Play," "Ghost Rider," "Vacancy," and "Silence of the Lambs." The bad news is you'll need to have one of those Roku Netflix players or a special Netflix-ready Blu-ray player in order to watch these free movies on your TV. The good news is in the future, Mac, TiVo, and Xbox 360 owners will be able to subscribe to the streaming service too. Until then you can watch movies on your PC if you're a subscriber. The pros and cons of notebooks

I agree that Netbooks have some value- its in the portability. However, the major drawback of these devices is that they are still not easy to use when you walk around or stand. Its hard to walk and type and its hard to use the touchpad. Thats why Slate Tablet PCs are a much better choice. I have a motion computing LE1700 for some of the same reasons you suggest Chris. However, I can manipulate the device standing up or sitting down. Battery life is 8 hours and the devices weighs 3 LBs. Without the extended battery- 2LBs 4hrs battery life.

I see dual core laptops for sale for around $500-$600 in the Sunday Newspapers Sales Flyers at Best Buy, Circuit City, Office Max, Stapels Etc.... every week. Why pay $500 for a glorified netbook when for $100 more you can buy a real laptop. Other then the size/portability there is no real advantage unless you buy the low end netbook - then price becomes a factor. I guess the netbooks are worth it if you only want to use it as an internet device, hence the term Netbook.
For $400, I recently purchased the Acer Aspire One, complete with XP Home, 1GB of memory, and a 160GB hard drive. I also have the upgraded 6 cell battery...which will last 5+ hours. The webcam is fairly low resolution, but works fine. I really don't need an optical drive, as most things can be accessed by a jump drive. I have absolutely no problem running Citrix / VPN to connect to work. MS Office also runs smoothly. With the incredible portability and inexpensive price, it's ideal for travel or just sitting on the couch and surfing. Please explain how a gameboy is better than this???

I've been researching the possibility of buying a notebook, like the ACER Aspirer One, 160 GB, 6-volt battery because I travel for work, alot. I'm tired of lugging around a 10 pound bag. These devices are small, light, and convient for travel. Some drawl backs; some lack suffiecent battery life, storage is limited, and many only have usb drives. Perks, they have wireless internet connections and are great for transporting projects. Be sure to check out the canon micro-projecter. Technological life shouldn't be a burden, it was meant to free us from the network. Read More......

The Ten Scariest-Looking Cars Of All Time

10.) Mercury Marauder

Hearkening back to the good ol' days, the Mercury Marauder is one of the few modern cars to appeal to the dark side. Based on the same Panther platform that underpins countless Crown Vic police cars, the sight of one of these sends chills down the spine, and when you throw in the blacked-out windows, grille, headlights, taillights and pillars you end up with one spooky sled. There's a reason why the CIA and the Feds ordered up a bunch of Marauders.

9.) Plymouth Satellite

If, like the eponymous movie wants us to believe, cars have personalities, then the Plymouth Satellite is a scary zombie. At the very least, a ghost-white one with a little rust and a missing bumper is the perfect car for a zombie crew to jump in and use to terrorize the locals. Wait? Zombie drivers? We just came up with the best movie idea. Someone call Spielberg.

8.) Buick Roadmaster Station Wagon

In a decade defined by optimism, there was something deeply pessimistic about the nineties-era Buick Roadmaster. Built on the same b-body platform as a number of other GM wagons, the Roadmaster has an angry stature amplified by the long, mean nose and partially-covered rear wheels. Powered by a version of the 5.7-liter LT1 V8 used in the Corvette, a black Roadmaster wagon has the power to chase down lost souls and the room to store them. Paging the Grim Reaper. [Photo: StationWagon.com]

7.) Avanti II SportCoupe

We always thought a Studebaker Avanti coupe would have made a better batmobile than a Futura. With nary a straight line to be found, a tail end that abruptly comes to an end and a chrome bumper that looks like it has a pair of fangs we wonder if this isn't what Dracula drives when he turns into a bat. Combine that with those empty eyes and we doubt this spooky SportCoupe could see its own reflection in its shiny moon wheel covers.

6.) Lincoln Continental Mark III

Few vehicles bring the promise of misadventure and doom than a Lincoln Mark III. Squelch on a bet? A bookie in a Mark III is going to show up at your door and throw you onto the 16 acres of hood real estate. Drop a dime on a gangster? A dude named Tony and his friends Anthony and Anton will be happy to make room for you — in the trunk. Unlike the softer, luxurious luxury cars of the era, the Mark III clearly states that it means business. All black and chrome with those covered headlights, this Lincoln is prepared for stealthy mayhem. [Photo: SeriousWheels.com]

5.) Alfa Romeo Montreal

If Vader tools around in a GNX and the reaper has a Roadmaster wagon then Satan himself drives around in an Alfa Romeo Montreal. Don't let the name fool you: The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing the world that he was a Canadian. As Dante will tell you, the Antichrist is clearly an Italian guy and we don't imagine that his unholiness would drive around in a Ferrari. There's no doubt the Montreal's evil-looking grimace, angry NACA duct and 1970s Italian dependability make it the perfect car for lapping the eighth circle of Hell.

4.) Plymouth Valiant V-200

For your classier demon there's not much better than a Plymouth Valiant V200. From its demonically styled grille to the creepy fender chrome, the Valiant V-200 is ghoulishly awesome. The creepiest feature on the car, and on nearly any car, is the trunk, which appears to include the door to the underworld. Though this feature is actually for the spare tire, it looks like a portable gate to Hell.

3.) Porsche 917

Though we think of Porsches as small and sleek sports cars, the Porsche 917 is something of an outlier. Though fast and wonderful, it looks like a giant scary monster come down from the hills to eat the villagers. The sloping wings, huge inlet and bulky styling are more Frankenstein than Frankfurt. The 917/20, a.k.a. the "Pink Pig", is perhaps the most frightening of them all. From most angles it looks like a stitched-together bird-pig-man hybrid. Run, run for your lives from the Trufflehunter of Züffenhausen!

2.) Buick GNX

When the Buick GNX debuted, Car And Driver ran a review of it with the headline "Vader, Your Car is Ready" and that connection has never left the car. Ignore the fact that nearly every part, down to the wheels, is black. Ignore the evil grimace on its face. Ignore even the Buick's blade-sharp lines that scream "I will cut you and not look back" standing still. The thing that makes the GNX truly scary looking is the site of this G-bodied two-door from the late 80s screaming down the street to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and running a quarter-mile in 13.26. Evil incarnate.

1.) Rolls Royce Phantom Jonckheere

The single most frightening looking car in history also has one of the most spine-tingling names of any car. The Rolls Royce Phantom Jonckheere Coupe may be one of the finest automobiles built, but we fear the person who actually drives around in one of these. Built without concern for cost or common sense in the 1920s, the history of the car is somewhat murky but we wouldn't be surprised if it spent some time in Transylvania. From the rear three-quarter view it actually looks like Dracula's cape flowing in the wind. And on the inside? A blood red, entirely made of the finest materials. If you're ever invited inside make sure to bring a wooden stake with you.

Will Ferrell pull off Halloween GAG

As the door flew open on a camera tower high above the ground just outside Howard Jones Field, all eyes turned to a man inside screaming and waving his arms.

As he hurled to the ground, players winced in horror. Fullback Stanley Havili ran toward the door, but before he could get there, he received good news.

"He caught him," a woman yelled.

With the man cradled in his arms, a masked superhero strolled into Howard Jones Field. Sure enough, "Captain Compete" turned out to be comedian Will Ferrell.

After speaking to the team for a couple of minutes, Captain Compete got another chance to save a life, when a man engulfed in flames emerged from behind the goalposts.

After the man was extinguished, Ferrell tried to help, launching a Gatorade cooler at the man - not on the man.

"What a sense of timing that guy has," USC coach Pete Carroll said.

The Halloween gag had allmost everybody fooled.

"It felt awful," Havili said. "My stomach just dropped."

Freshman defensive tackle Armond Armstead saw the man fall and thought tragedy struck.

"Seriously," he said, "I thought we just watched a dude die."

The prank made everybody feel good after the practice..

"It was just a little something in the Halloween spirits," Carroll said. "I just thought we'd have a little fun."

Armani's 'Posh' New Underwear Model

Victoria Beckham is following in the footsteps of her hubby, David. The Spice Girl has signed on to launch Giorgio Armani's new Emporio Armani underwear collection next spring.

"Who better than Victoria Beckham to launch our new global Emporio Armani underwear campaign?" Armani said in a press release. "Victoria is a style icon, a dynamic lady whose influence and recognition will add great excitement to the continued international growth of our Emporio Armani women's underwear business."

Her husband David recently got nearly naked in new ads for Emporio Armani's autumn/winter 2009 collection.

They debuted on a giant mural facing Macy's in San Francisco in June.

He previously told Jay Leno that he was "quite nervous" stripping down because "my mom was going to see it."

When the ads came out, he said, "she was the first one to call me and say, 'What are you doing?' I tried explaining it to her, but she didn't really get it." Read More......

Brit's Dad Will Retain Control Of Her Affairs

A court commissioner has granted Jamie Spears a permanent conservatorship over his daughter Britney's personal and financial affairs.

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz granted Jamie Spears a permanent conservatorship over his daughter on Tuesday afternoon. A court-appointed attorney for Spears says the singer does not object to the arrangement.

The move came after a lengthy closed-chambers meeting, and follows a recent medical evaluation of the 26-year-old singer. Jamie Spears has had control over his daughter's affairs since February after she had several high-profile incidents of erratic behavior and a pair of hospitalizations. Read More......

Beyonce: Hot or Not?

Last night Beyonce and her mom, designer Tina Knowles, celebrated the launch of their new House of Dereon dress collection at Bloomingdale's in NYC. Thanks to her teased 'do, the "Bootylicious" star was looking a little older than her 27 years. What do you think of Bey's look?

House of Dereon dress collection at Bloomingdale's in NYC. Many of the gowns, which range in price from $310-$470, are said to be inspired by Beyonce's upcoming film, "Cadillac Records," in which she portrays music legend Etta James.

Thanks to her teased 'do, Beyonce was looking a little older than her 27 years in a black frock that accentuated her curvaceous figure. Call me crazy, but I kind of think that her 54-year-old mother looked more pulled together in her magenta dress and matching pumps. Read More......

Burn the Fat, Keep it Off

We often discuss ways to burn off excess fat and calories, but what we do to take off weight is only a small part of the equation – keeping it off needs just as much attention, probably more.

Why can’t we keep it off?

Here’s my belief: When we desperately want to lose weight we engage in activities that are too darn difficult to maintain. For example, we drastically reduce our caloric intake – eat too much less – or too differently - to be able to keep doing it for very long.

We start an exercise program that is too demanding – too physically tough, takes too much time, is too expensive - to keep up for very long. Soon we just stop doing them. Then, very often, because we cannot maintain the program that we set up, we have a backlash. We punish ourselves emotionally and physically by overeating, not exercising at all, and basically giving up.

Then, a few weeks or months or years later, we become desperate to lose weight again, and we start another, "too difficult" plan to take the weight off, and once again it fails. This cycle goes on and on for so many people.

How do we stop this (try to lose weight/give up) cycle?

Here’s what I suggest:
1. Take a good hard look at your past attempts and assess what is realistic and what is just too unlikely for you to sustain?

2. Don’t be hard on yourself about the past, it’s done, it’s gone, it’s over, but useful for informing the future.

3. Accept the fact that work is involved. You are going to have to change your ways, give up some things, adjust, adapt, and accept that a new way of eating and a new level of activity will take a concerted and focused and deliberate effort.

4. Be your own champion. Give yourself realistic goals and build yourself a support system, but remember that you and only you can make this happen; you must champion the change.

5. Don’t let a lapse, or setback, in your new plan become a relapse or ending to something that you have started. There will be mistakes, missed workouts and unplanned meal experiences but that is all part of the program when you are doing something for the long haul. Being able to stick with it means allowing for lapses.

6. No more "if – thens." If I lose weight, then I will buy a new outfit/look for a new job/start dating – no. Your life is in session now; so don’t act as if it will begin when you lose the weight. Getting yourself to engage and take action in all areas of your life will help you champion your own fitness/weight loss program to success.

I know you can do this if you start off with a realistic idea of what your plan should and shouldn’t look like (#1). If you are kind to yourself (#2) you’ll be more likely to keep going when the going gets tough (and when your plan doesn’t look exactly like you thought it would).

Your desire to change must be matched by an effortful willingness to change (#3), and you’d do well to invite other caring individuals into your plan (#4) while you remember that your opinion (and decision) is really the one that matters. Progress moves forward and back (#5) and now is the time (#6) to make your commitment to not just lose weight but live healthfully from here on out.

Peace and Happy Healthy Trails,
Debbie Rocker

Chavez calls Palin a confused beauty queen

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, renowned for colorful insults of world leaders, called U.S. vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin a confused "beauty queen" on Friday after she said he was a dictator.

Chavez, a leftist who often mocks U.S. President George W. Bush, invoked the advice of Jesus Christ on how to handle the slights by Palin, the Republican governor of Alaska and a former beauty pageant winner.

"I saw the vice presidential candidate, there she was talking about 'the dictator Hugo Chavez.' The poor thing, you just feel sorry for her," he said during a televised broadcast.

"She's a beauty queen that they've pulled out to be a figurehead. We need to say as Christ did: Forgive her, she knows not what she's saying." Read More......

How 2 use your mobile phone as a credit card!

If you are in Asia, you know what I'm talking about. People there have been making payments with their mobile phones using what's called "near-field communications." Just wave the handset in front of a reader and voila, the transaction is done.

So, a French company called Inside Contactless has come up with an interim solution that will let people turn their phones into credit cards and transit cards. Inside's MicroPass technology will be embedded into a sticker that can then be affixed to a phone, wallet, or anything else.

The company, which entered the U.S. bank card market with a microprocessor-based chip in 2005 and is backed by Nokia, Motorola and Samsung, recently announced that Colorado Plastics will be producing stickers using the MicroPass technology.

Soon, we may see people waving their mobile phones, iPods, ID badges, or wallets in front of readers to get on the subway or buy coffee at Starbucks. Read More......

Heidi Klum: Supermodel or Superwoman?

Heidi Klum showed off her new limited edition makeup line at Victoria's Secret Thursday. Is there anything this supermodel, reality show host, and mother of three can't do?

On Thursday, Heidi Klum showed off the Heidi Collection for Very Sexy Makeup at a Victoria's Secret store in Los Angeles. Wearing a silver mini and gossamer fairy wings, the supermodel offered makeup tips and makeovers to guests.

Heidi's new limited edition makeup line includes items like a creamy lip gloss infused with chocolate flavor, and a smoky eyeshadow in emerald green -- Heidi's favorite color.

In addition to being a Victoria's Secret Angel, Heidi hosts two successful reality shows ("Project Runway" and the German version of "America's Next Top Model"), and serves as the face (and bum) of Jordache jeans.

Heidi's also a devoted wife and mother to her three kids: Leni (6), Henry (3), and Johan (just shy of 2), although she's admitted that her baking skills need a little work.

On top of that, the 35-year-old beauty still maintains the fabulous figure. Read More......

Who is 'Sasha Fierce'?

Beyonce Knowles has a new album, and an alter ego to go with it! "Sasha Fierce" is the "more sensual and aggressive" side of the singer's personality that comes out while she's performing. We call it adrenaline, but whatever floats Beyonce's boat!

"I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work," she tells Reuters. "When I'm on stage, this alter ego that I've created kind of protects me and who I really am."

The singer, 27, has said there are "things I do when performing I would never do normally."

As "Sasha," she recently told October's British Marie Claire, "I have out-of-body experiences. If I cut my leg, if I fall, I don't even feel it. I'm so fearless, I'm not aware of my face or my body."

Matt Damon Signs On For Fourth 'Bourne'

Matt Damon is about to be "Bourne" again. The actor will return as superspy Jason Bourne, and director Paul Greengrass is also on board for the new film.

Damon will return as superspy Jason Bourne, and Paul Greengrass (who directed "The Bourne Ultimatum" and "The Bourne Supremacy") is also on board for the new film.

While the previous three "Bourne" movies have been based on the novels by Robert Ludlum, the latest chapter will be an original story.

George Nolfi, who co-wrote "The Bourne Ultimatum," will pen the new script.

Universal had planned on stopping after "Ultimatum," the third movie in the series, but decided to move forward with the fourth film after its predecessor grossed $227 million at the U.S. box office and $215 million overseas.

Damon, who last starred in "Ocean's Thirteen" in 2007, will next be seen on the big screen in the crime drama "The Informant," slated for a March 2009 release.

Report: Madonna, Guy Ritchie Settle Divorce

Guy Ritchie and Madonna have settled their divorce, according to the U.K. publication, The Sun. The "RocknRolla" director will reportedly walk away with assets totaling around $60 million, but what material possessions will the Material Girl be left with?
Madonna will hold on to her New York and Los Angeles homes and most of her considerable fortune, The Sun reported.

"The negotiations were relatively painless," The Sun quoted a source as saying. "Guy knew what he wanted and Madonna knew what she was keen to keep. There was a spell when Guy was in a mood to dig his heels in, but he decided this arrangement seemed reasonable and a long battle over money would make life unbearable."

Madonna is being represented by divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton, who formerly represented Paul McCartney in his divorce from Heather Mills. Shackleton reportedly negotiated Madonna's divorce terms during a day of phone calls with Guy's lawyers.

The former couple reportedly expects to reach a compromise over their three kids -- Lourdes, 12, who is the daughter of Madonna and ex Carlos Leon, and sons Rocco, 8, and David, 3.

With the divorce all but out of the way, Guy, who's in London filming "Sherlock Holmes" with Robert Downey Jr., is reportedly ready to move on romantically as well.
